Mike's Custom OM

This beautiful East Indian Rosewood Orchestra Model steel string guitar was crafted by both its owner and me.  It features a Sitka Spruce soundboard from the sonic vault of Pacific Rim Tonewoods, and one of the last East Indian Rosewood back and side sets to come out of Luthier's Mercantile Intl.  It's was built following many of the methods from Trevor Gore, such as frequency analysis, a "live" back and mass side blocks.  The soundboard uses "ramped" bracing as suggested by our mentor, Robbie O'Brien, and results in a clear, bright, responsive tone.  Koa bindings and blue paua abalone purflings give this instrument a stunning look.  The sound hole rosette was designed by Mike and has an abalone ring inlayed into a rosewood background.  Honduran Mahogany neck with double action truss rod, is 43mm at the nut, 55mm at the 14th fret, and has 2-3/16"" string spacing at the saddle.  Madagascar Rosewood fretboard with Evo gold frets. 25.4" scale length, 14 frets to the body, Gotoh 510 tuners, Brazilian Rosewood bridge (25gm) and ebony bridge pins, clear pickguard, bleached bone saddle and nut.  This is a very special guitar for a dear friend whose passion for acoustic guitars and their music started it all!.  Thanks Mike..
